Services for New York families

Families rarely need only one of these things. A call that starts as "we think we need an intervention" often turns out to be a placement question, or a transport problem, or a family that needs coaching before anyone confronts anyone.

$2,750 local package: family preparation, intervention planning, treatment placement assistance, admissions coordination, and twelve months of family coaching afterward. Sober escort, travel outside our local service area, and treatment program costs are separate.

We help you understand what your health plan covers for treatment. The intervention fee itself is paid privately and is not billed to insurance.

Intervention NY is not a treatment facility, detox or medical provider. We prepare families, facilitate the conversation, and coordinate admission with licensed programs. Clinical care is delivered by the facility, not by us.

Scope, in detail

Six services, and the boundaries of each one.

Family intervention planning and facilitation

The core engagement. Preparation with the family, a facilitated conversation, and a confirmed destination before anyone sits down.

How long: Two to three days of preparation is typical, then a full day for the intervention itself. Timing depends on travel, safety and treatment availability.
Who does it: One of the two founding interventionists, in person. Never a subcontractor you have not spoken to.
Against the fee: Inside the flat fee for local areas.

What is included

Two to four preparation calls with the family, together and individually where needed
Deciding who is in the room, who speaks, in what order, and who stays silent
Drafting and rehearsing what each person will say
Agreeing the boundaries in advance, including which ones the family can actually keep
A confirmed bed at a named licensed program before the day
The conversation itself, facilitated in person
A written plan the family keeps regardless of the answer on the day

What is not

Any clinical assessment, diagnosis or treatment — we are not medical providers
Legal advice, court advocacy or civil commitment proceedings
Physically moving anyone who does not consent to go

Prompt crisis guidance

For the situations where the usual preparation window is not available: an overdose, an arrest, a discharge against medical advice, or someone who has just walked out.

How long: We can often begin planning the same day; in-person timing depends on travel and treatment availability.
Who does it: Whichever founder can travel fastest, with the other picking up preparation by phone.
Against the fee: Inside the flat fee locally; travel itemized separately further out.

What is included

A call answered at any hour by an interventionist rather than an answering service
Triage of whether this is an intervention problem or a medical or legal one
Compressed preparation — the essential parts of the planning, done in hours
Travel across NYC, Westchester, Long Island and the Hudson Valley, and upstate by written quote

What is not

Emergency medical care. If someone is unresponsive or overdosing, call 911 first — not us
Anything that requires us to act as a crisis clinician or psychiatric assessor

Treatment placement and facility matching

Finding and confirming a specific program that fits clinically, financially and geographically — before the conversation, not after it.

How long: Usually runs in parallel with preparation, so 24 hours to a few days.
Who does it: The interventionist leading your case, not a placement desk.
Against the fee: Inside the flat fee.

What is included

We help you check your treatment benefits
A shortlist of licensed programs with the reasoning for each one stated
Screening for co-occurring conditions so the program can actually treat what is there
Holding a confirmed bed for the day of the intervention
Coordinating the admission itself with the facility

What is not

Any referral fee, commission or bed-brokering payment — we take none, ever
The cost of treatment, which is billed by the facility and is entirely separate from our fee
A guarantee that a particular bed stays available if the day slips

Sober escort available (priced separately; see /sober-escort)

Accompanied travel from the room to the admitting facility, including out-of-state and air travel where the placement requires it.

How long: A few hours locally; a full day for out-of-state placements.
Who does it: A vetted sober companion, briefed by the interventionist who ran your case.
Against the fee: Optional and quoted separately. Never added without agreement first.

What is included

A sober companion who travels door to door with your relative
Handover directly to admissions staff rather than a drop-off at the entrance
Coordination of the route and timing with the facility in advance

What is not

Any form of restraint, secure transport, or moving someone against their will
Medical supervision in transit — if that is needed, it is a medical transfer, not us
Flights, fuel and accommodation, which are passed through at cost

Sober escort prices

Sober escort fees are separate from the $2,750 intervention package and are confirmed in writing before travel is booked. Treatment program costs are billed by the provider.

Twelve months of family coaching

Twelve months of family coaching are included in the local package. Work with the household, not clinical treatment of the person who went away.

How long: Twelve months from placement.
Who does it: The interventionist the family already knows. Continuity is the point.
Against the fee: Included in the $2,750 local package for twelve months afterward. Standalone work quoted separately.

What is included

Weekly sessions at first, tapering to monthly across the twelve months
Boundary work — specifically, keeping the ones agreed on the day of the intervention
Communication repair between parents, partners and siblings
A written relapse plan agreed before it is needed rather than during
Preparation for the return home, which is usually harder than the admission

What is not

Therapy, couples counseling or any form of clinical mental health treatment
Treatment of the person in recovery — that is the facility’s clinical team, not us

Treatment benefits and cost guidance

Establishing what the treatment will actually cost your family before anybody commits to anything.

How long: Often quick, occasionally longer if the carrier is slow.
Who does it: The interventionist leading your case.
Against the fee: Inside the flat fee.

What is included

Help checking treatment benefits with your health plan before placement
A plain statement of likely out-of-pocket exposure, including the bad version
Help understanding prior authorization, length-of-stay reviews and appeals
An honest view on whether an in-network program is the better clinical choice anyway

What is not

Any guarantee of coverage — the carrier decides, not us
Our intervention fee is paid privately and is not billed to insurance
Billing, claims submission or appeals filed on your behalf

Where the work changes by substance

The structure above is the same in every case. What changes is the medical urgency, the withdrawal risk and therefore how much preparation time there is. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal can be dangerous without medical supervision; opioid cases turn on how quickly a bed can be confirmed.
