Treatment and Rehab Placement Help
We do not run any treatment program. We help families find and arrange inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and detox options that fit clinically and financially. We check licensing and services, help you check treatment benefits, and our fee is the same whichever program is chosen.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988.
What we do and do not do
We are an intervention and family-navigation service. We do not own, run or get paid by any treatment program. Our job is to help your family find care that fits your loved one’s needs and your budget, and to arrange it. Our fee is not contingent on which program is chosen. Read our referral transparency policy.
How we vet programs
- License or certification. In New York, we check for OASAS certification. Out of state, we check the state license.
- Accreditation. We ask about independent accreditation, such as The Joint Commission or CARF.
- Medication treatment. We ask whether the program offers or supports medications for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
- Co-occurring care. We ask how they assess and treat anxiety, depression, trauma and other mental health needs.
- Family program. We ask how families are involved during treatment.
- Aftercare. We ask what happens at discharge and who helps plan next steps.
You can check New York programs yourself through OASAS or nationally at FindTreatment.gov.
Levels of care
| Level | What it is | Often a fit when |
|---|---|---|
| Medically supervised detox | Short stay to manage withdrawal safely | Withdrawal may be dangerous, such as from alcohol or benzodiazepines |
| Inpatient / residential | Live at the program with treatment every day | Use is severe, home is not safe for recovery, or outpatient has not worked |
| Partial hospitalization (PHP) | Treatment most of the day, home at night | Needs a lot of structure but has a stable place to sleep |
| Intensive outpatient (IOP) | Several sessions a week around work or school | Stepping down from residential care, or milder needs |
| Outpatient | Regular counseling and medical visits | Ongoing support after a higher level of care |
The program’s clinical team makes the final decision about level of care after its own assessment.
Checking treatment benefits
We help you check your treatment benefits. We help you understand what your health plan covers for treatment. The intervention fee itself is paid privately and is not billed to insurance. See our insurance guide for questions to ask your plan.
In-state vs. out-of-state placement
| In New York | Out of state | |
|---|---|---|
| Family involvement | Easier to visit and join family sessions | Harder; often by video |
| Aftercare | Easier to connect with local outpatient care | Needs careful planning before discharge |
| Distance from triggers | Closer to old routines | A fresh setting |
| Insurance | Often more in-network choices | Check out-of-network costs carefully |
| Travel | Usually by car | May need a flight and a sober escort |
Arranging admission ahead of time
Before an intervention, we confirm the program, a bed, intake paperwork, what to pack and timing. If your loved one says yes, they can go straight to admission. A sober escort can travel with them; escort fees are separate.
Red flags

Cost
$2,750 local package: family preparation, intervention planning, treatment placement assistance, admissions coordination, and twelve months of family coaching afterward. Sober escort, travel outside our local service area, and treatment program costs are separate. Placement help is part of that package. See the full cost breakdown.
Questions families ask
Do you own or run a rehab?
No. Intervention NY does not run any treatment program. We help families find and arrange care with outside providers.
Do programs pay you for referrals?
No. We do not accept payment from treatment programs for referrals or placement, and our fee is not contingent on which program is chosen.
Does insurance pay for your help?
No. The intervention fee is paid privately and is not billed to insurance. We help you check your treatment benefits so you know what your plan may cover for the program itself.
Can you help without a full intervention?
Yes. Some families only need help finding the right level of care for someone who already agreed to go. Call to talk it through.
Should treatment be in New York or out of state?
Both can work. In-state care makes family involvement and aftercare easier; out-of-state care can offer distance or a specialty program. We talk through the trade-offs with you.
What is a red flag when choosing a rehab?
Offers of free travel, free housing or cash to attend, pressure to decide immediately, and vague answers about licensing or costs. Paying for patient referrals can be a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. § 220.
Can admission be arranged before the intervention?
Yes. That is our usual approach. We confirm a bed, intake requirements and timing ahead of time so a yes can lead straight to admission.
